Since a major restructuring in 2001, PGi has evolved from a traditional single distribution general insurance company with generic products and services, to a market leader in alternative distribution, products and services, and the country’s leading sports and lifestyle insurer.

PGi is the official sponsor of Arrows F1 Team, KLMinardi F1 Team, Formula BMW/ 3000/2000 and the Prime Minister’s Indy40 Go-Kart Challenge. PGi is also the official insurer for the National Geographic Action Asia Challenge, AXN Challenge, Himalayan Mountain Bike Race, Ironman Challenge, International Rugby Sevens and Rock The World 3 Concert.

On sound financial footing, PGi achieved a RM100 million paid-up capital well before Bank Negara Malaysia requirements, and has delivered a 31% Return on Sales since its restructuring.

Most notably, PGi has set 14 new milestones that no other insurer in Malaysia has achieved in the past 26 years under the motor tariff. These milestones have clearly set us apart from our competitors in terms of product and service differentiation, aimed at providing better financial convenience, value and services to consumers. This includes becoming the first insurer to offer e-commerce application in the insurance industry and it is in line with the direction of BNM and aspirations of the country toward building a knowledge based society.

In July 2003 PGi was short-listed as one of the five finalists for the 2003 Asia Insurance Award : Best General Insurance of The Year. This is the most prestigious award for insurance companies in Asia organised annually by Asia Insurance Review. And, PGi is the only Malaysian company to be selected so.

The award is granted to an outstanding company for “enhancing the range of products and quality of service available to customers in the market it is operating in, in Asia”, and who meets the following criteria:


1. Consistently strong financial performance and management.

2. Demonstration of commitment to product innovation.

3. Research into and ability to respond to customers’ needs.

4. High standards of reliability, service and provision of information.


This recognition has re-affirmed our commitment in providing better financial convenience, value and services to our customers and our business partners in Malaysia.

In 2004, Asia Insurance Review has awarded PanGlobal Online as one of the Top 3 Best Insurance website in Asia under the Asia Insurance Industry Awards. This pretigious award was launched in 1997 to recognise and salute excellence in the insurance industry and to promote the industry’s move towards higher standards and greater professionalism. Being a finalist in the Top 3 Best Insurance Website category at the Award is recognition of PGi’s success in attracting its’ future customers and has made insurance more exciting and appealing to the new generation of customers via internet.

In September 2005, PGi has became the first general insurer to publish its' audited Own Damage Claim performance and its claim charter, as part of PGi's overall commitment to customer integrity - their right to know exactly how they would be treated in the event that a claim is made and how long it takes for them to collect their repaired car.
